This year’s MET Gala has come and gone in a flurry of outrageous outfits and gorgeous make-up looks. Amongst the most talked about looks were Rihanna’s bold homage to Rei Kawakubo and Katy Perry’s unique red ensemble. However, one thing truly stood out at this year’s Met Gala – the sheer amount of simply stunning ‘natural’ make-up looks.
Our favorite looks
While the red carpet did play host to some bold and beautiful make-up looks - like Rihanna’s bold pink blusher and Evan Rachel Wood’s over the top blue smoky eye - a lot of this year’s female guests opted for a slightly more relaxed look, letting their natural beauty shine through instead. Here are just some of our favorite looks from fashions biggest night out.
Ashely Graham – The model opted for a bold looking lip to match the deep pink accents of her dress. Other than this, however, her make-up look was paired back, with dewy skin and very little eye make-up.
Solange Knowles – Beyoncé’s little sister sported the most ‘natural’ look of the night. Her make-up was barely there. In fact, on first glance it looks like she’s wearing none at all, but her glowing skin really speaks for itself.
Dakota Johnson – The leading lady’s make-up look was all about rosy cheeks and glowing skin. There was only a hint of lipstick and no eye make-up in sight, making it one of our favorite looks of the night.
Cara Delevigne – If you can excuse the silver spray paint covering Cara’s head, her make-up look for this year’s Met Gala was really all natural. Barely there lipstick and a splash of blusher lets her flawless skin shine.
Blake Lively – Blake’s stunning dress made heads turn on the red carpet, but it was her make-up look that caught our attention. Her natural beauty shone through with a classic bronzed look that complemented her dress perfectly.
How you can achieve the look at home
If you want to emanate your favorite celeb, it’s important that you take good care of your skin. Here at ASDM Beverly Hills, we’re dedicated to providing you with the top skincare tips so you can look as flawless as the likes of Blake and Solange.
Stay hydrated – It’s a tip as old as time, but it’s still as important as ever. No matter if you’re at home or work, make sure you drink water regularly. If you’re hydrated, your skin will be too. It’s a simple way to help your skin look plump and healthy, as well as keep it dewy and glowing.
Moisturize regularly – In a similar vein to drinking water every day, you should also make sure to moisturize your skin regularly. You need a moisturizer that’s kind to your skin, and works with your skin type. It’s also a bonus if your moisturizer does two things in one – like our Porcelain Doll Moisturizer which hydrates as well as repairing damaged or irritated skin.
Get enough sleep – With busy lives, this rule can often be tricky to adhere too. The importance of a good night’s sleep can’t be overstated – it’s important for your mind, your body, and your skin. If you’re tired, your skin will look tired, too.
Invest in quality skincare products – There are so many skincare products on the market that sometimes it can be difficult to know where to start. The most important thing to remember is that you need quality over quantity. Investing a little more in cleansers, toners, and face masks will pay dividends for your skin in the long run. At ASDM Beverly Hills we offer a range of high-quality skincare products to help you achieve that healthy, glowing look.
