Crow’s Feet Remedy- Are you applying your eye cream incorrectly?

The dreaded crow’s feet! They seem to have appeared almost overnight and now are impossible to get rid of. But do not fret, that’s why ASDM is here to show you the Beverly Hills way to have wrinkle-free eyes. The key is not only in what you apply, but in how you apply it and when. Here are 5 under eye care tips that will save you much heartache!

  1. Be picky and choose your ingredients wisely!
    1. The last thing in the world you want is to cause your eyes more harm by using the wrong ingredients. The rule is simple, avoid parabens, glycerin, mineral oil, petroleum and anything you may be allergic or sensitive to.
    2. Now when choosing an antiaging eye cream, look for peptides and hyaluronic acid. Since the skin around your eyes is the thinnest, you want to make sure you use a product that is gentle yet packed with antiaging actives. We would recommend keeping an eye out for peptides, hyaluronic acid, and pure oils like argan oil, maracuja oil, camellia seed oil. All of these ingredients will help your eyes get the hydration, moisture and plumpness they deserve.
    3. If your main concern is baggy & puffy eyes, then we would recommend choosing a serum that contains caffeine and hyaluronic acid. Caffeine will help to improve circulation while hyaluronic acid will help hydrate the area. These 2 ingredients are actually the most effective when it comes to reducing undereye puffiness and bags.
  2. Apply correctly!
    1. Apply using gentle circular motions starting from the inner corners of your eyes and moving upwards to your temples. Avoid tugging and rough motions. This will make your condition worse and even cause the damage to be irrevocable. Treat your eyes like a newborn baby with lots of love and tender care!
  3. Know when to apply!
    1. This is key to a successful treatment. Eye creams especially should be applied in the day. Since the skin around your eyes is the thinnest in this area, water retention at night coupled with hydrating ingredients will cause your eyes to appear even more puffier when you wake up. We suggest applying first thing in the morning and at night, we highly recommend using a gentle exfoliating product like a retinol serum or glycolic acid cream. Apply these exfoliating products only to the areas where you have crows feet or wrinkles. There is no need to apply all over the eye area. When applying use gentle pressing motions. Only a small amount is needed! Don’t overindulge here.
  4. Cleanse the eye area with extra TLC!
    1. I can’t tell you how many times I have seen my mother use a thick hand towel to rigorously rub away at her eyes in a horrific attempt to remove her eye makeup. I cringe each time. When cleansing your face, especially the eye area, we recommend using a cleansing oil like our massage oil which you can use to gently remove your eye makeup with no tugging or roughness. Gently apply 1-2 pumps of cleansing oil unto face. Massage gently using circular motions and focusing on areas with more makeup (like the eyes!). Using a warm, damp cloth (I actually use my baby’s bath clothes. They work like a charm!), gently wipe the makeup off your face avoiding tugging motions. Always use upward motions so that you do not introduce more gravity to your face. If you have especially thick eye makeup use 1 more pump of oil unto eye area and wipe clean.
  5. Watch what you eat!
    1. These are the main culprits you should avoid to prevent against undereye puffiness (which leads to wrinkles!! Gasp!!). Say no to alcohol, excess salt & saturated fats. Up your intake of water, olive oil, and fruits & veggies.
